AI/ML Engineering Lead – Agentic Systems
at Climatize. We build software to accelerate renewable energy investments and project development. Our mission is to generate significant renewable energy investments and build a global climate finance network. We have received media recognition and are expanding our engineering team with a founding AI/ML Engineer to lead a new product line. This role includes salary and stock options. Salary is geographically adjusted. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who will contribute technically and drive product development in a fast-moving startup environment. Key Responsibilities
Architect and lead development of a production-grade multi-agent system designed for renewable energy project development. Legislative and interconnection research Engineering design optimization using third-party APIs Automated permitting document retrieval and generation Investment memo preparation with financial modeling and risk analysis Build and maintain a supervisory agent layer for evaluation, error handling, and memory management across tasks Integrate the system with external tools (Helioscope, Paces, Energy Toolbase), vector databases, and structured document pipelines Lead orchestration of LLMs and APIs, including LangChain, RAG pipelines, and commercial models (OpenAI, Claude, Manus) Own deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement cycles to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance with performance and safety requirements What we’re looking for
This is not a management role . You’ll need to be hands-on, with a strong bias toward action, problem-solving, and aligning work with Climatize business and product goals. Basic Qualifications
7+ years of professional software engineering or applied ML experience, with 2+ years building production AI agents or multi-agent systems Expertise in orchestrating LLMs with APIs, including LangChain and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) Proven track record in designing and delivering autonomous AI system architectures with measurable reliability Additional Background
Clear understanding of distinctions between tool-use, agentic reasoning, and autonomous execution Preferred: experience with solar design tools (Helioscope, PVSyst, Aurora), geospatial/energy data workflows, or project finance Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating solar and energy system design tools (Helioscope, PVSyst, SAM, Energy Toolbase) into automated workflows Familiarity with permitting, interconnection, and compliance processes in distributed energy projects Background in renewable energy, infrastructure, or climate technology product development Proficiency with vector databases, RAG architectures, and hybrid retrieval systems Experience automating document workflows (OCR, templating, compliance reporting) Track record working in early-stage startups or entrepreneurial environments with high technical autonomy Interview Process
