Salary/Hourly Rate: $80k - $90k
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling project accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers and senior leadership to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Oversee and track job cost accounting procedures, encompassing journal entries, reconciliations, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting, and schedules for minor projects.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage job costing, budgeting, and forecasting processes for construction projects.
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets and financial performance.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, Viewpoint).
- Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant
- CPA certification or equivalent.
- Familiarity with federal and state tax regulations specific to the construction industry.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
