The Dental Assistant assists the dentist in various aspects of patient care and performs clinical and clerical functions independently under supervision.
Duties
- Customer Service: Shows courtesy, respect, and a positive attitude towards patients, co-workers, and the public. Provides assistance with questions or concerns and performs service recovery.
- Chairside Assisting: Sets up operatory and/or surgery suite, passes instruments safely and efficiently, maintains a clear operative field, prepares dental materials, and assists in routine and specialized dental procedures.
- Dental Imaging: Produces diagnostic-quality images, follows safety protocols, and completes imaging requests promptly.
- Infection Control and Equipment Sterilization: Follows infection control procedures, properly sterilizes instruments, and maintains a sterile environment.
- Clerical Functions: Assists in scheduling, fills appointment gaps, and helps document findings and treatment plans.
- Information Management: Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA, follows security regulations.
- Patient Safety: Modifies care based on patient needs, provides instructions, participates in patient identification, monitors patient condition during procedures, including sedation recovery.
- Employee Education: Completes required safety training annually.
- Dental Laboratory Functions: Pours impressions, prepares study models, and performs lab functions within skill level.
- Direct Patient Care: Removes sutures, takes impressions, removes temporary crowns, performs coronal polishing, places rubber dams, and provides patient education.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
