Assignment Duration This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule Full time, 36 hours/week; 3 shifts of 12 hours each, including every other weekend and holiday.
Job Description The Registered Respiratory Therapist assesses patients' respiratory care needs based on a variety of data. They plan, organize, perform, and evaluate treatment modalities to meet those needs while ensuring the best patient and family experience through optimized customer interactions. NICU experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
Consistently perform and document thorough patient assessments.
Establish appropriate care plans.
Communicate with other members of the patient care team.
Perform and document therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretion management techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, and oxygen therapy.
Assist with routine care and maintenance of artificial airways.
Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators according to established protocol.
Provide age-specific patient and family education related to disease management.
Manage intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
Perform acute airway management in emergent situations.
Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring, including pulse oximeters.
Assist with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory-related DME supplies.
Adhere to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Collect arterial blood gas samples and process them through point-of-care blood analyzers.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA standards.
Function as Shift Coordinator as designated after one year of employment.
Assist the medical team with fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures and placement of invasive monitoring lines.
Act as a preceptor for orientees and students during their clinical rotations.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
PA License required
Basic Life Support Certification (AHA) required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
Graduate from a Specialty Training Program
Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (NBRC) required
Member of National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
