Position Overview:

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Bookkeeper (Construction) on behalf of a well-established and growing construction and development company. This role is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative business where you will be a key partner in managing the financial operations of impactful projects across commercial, multifamily, and real estate development.

In this role, you will take ownership of full-cycle construction job cost accounting and play a vital role in supporting senior leadership with financial insights that directly impact decision-making. Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations and functions across multiple entities.
  • Oversee the full job cost cycle: from initial project budgets through final closeout.
  • Utilize Yardi job cost modules for job cost tracking, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage full-cycle payables, including coding, reviewing invoices, and reconciling against budgets and contract commitments.
  • Track change orders, budget revisions, and ensure proper approvals.
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow, month-end journal entries, and reconciliations by project and entity.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to subsidiary work-in-progress schedules.
  • Compile and submit cost reporting packages for management review.
  • Work directly with leadership to create annual job cost budgets and maintain monthly reforecasts.
  • Prepare equity and/or lender draw packages in compliance with agreements.
  • Maintain fixed asset accounting records for audit and tax purposes.
  • Support property management accounting, including monthly reports, audits, budgets, and cash flow analysis.
  • Assist with special projects related to construction, development, and asset management as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including construction and/or commercial real estate accounting.
  • Strong job cost and project-based accounting experience required.
  • Knowledge of AP/AR, payroll, cash flow, and job cost processes.
  • Proficiency in Yardi Voyager
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects, troubleshoot accounting issues, and provide accurate reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team player who thrives in a small, collaborative office.
  • Strong career stability and interest in long-term professional growth.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of $65,000 – $85,000+ DOE
