Managed Services Engineer (Network Focus) - Hybrid Remote We are an IT Services and Consulting firm headquartered in Illinois, with multiple offices across the Central and Eastern U.S. time zones. About the Role We are seeking an experienced
Managed Services Engineer (Network Focus)
to join our growing team who can take ownership of supporting and optimizing client network environments. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted technical resource, working directly with customers to troubleshoot issues, stabilize performance, and implement improvements across firewalls, routing/switching, wireless, and VPN technologies.
You’ll manage a steady flow of support requests, respond to monitoring alerts, and step in to design or configure solutions that keep our clients’ networks secure and reliable. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in a client-facing environment, and wants exposure to a wide range of technologies.
What You’ll Do Act as a key point of contact for clients, helping resolve network challenges and keeping their environments stable and secure. Troubleshoot issues across firewalls, routing, switching, wireless, and VPN technologies, delivering timely resolutions. Monitor systems and respond to alerts, ensuring network health and uptime. Implement network changes, upgrades, and configurations to improve performance and security. Provide remote support, with occasional on-site visits when deeper engagement is needed. Document solutions, configurations, and processes to strengthen team knowledge and client confidence. Participate in occasional on-call rotating schedule. Collaborate with teammates in knowledge-sharing sessions, technical discussions, and project initiatives.
What You’ll Bring 5+ years of hands on network engineering experience
in design, configuration, and/or support. Strong network troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues across multiple technologies. Expertise with Fortinet firewalls (required) ; Palo Alto experience strongly preferred. Strong Routing and switching skills Experienced with VPN technologies Wireless infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting. Security and firewall
configuration/management
expertise. Experience with network virtualization a plus. Exposure to additional platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and/or Aruba is beneficial. Relevant certifications (Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, CCNP, etc.) are a plus.
