POSITION:
D.A. Collins Companies is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Corporate Controller to lead the financial operations of the company. This key leadership position will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities. The Controller will manage a team of accounting professionals and partner closely with executive leadership to ensure accurate financials, internal controls, and strategic decision-making support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and tax compliance. Produce monthly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes across all business entities. Prepare and analyze key financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow). Manage internal financial controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and efficiency. Collaborate with external auditors to support the annual audit process. Supervise and develop a team of 15–20 accounting professionals, fostering growth and accountability. Monitor and manage daily cash flow, banking activity, and reconciliations. Lead improvements in financial systems, reporting, and workflows across the organization. Ensure timely compliance with multi-state sales tax and corporate tax regulations. Assist operational teams with financial insights and reporting tools to drive performance. Partner with the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. CPA certification required; MBA or master’s in finance/accounting is a plus.
Experience 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including leadership in multi-entity environments. Experience in the construction, heavy civil, or manufacturing industries strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in managing complex accounting operations, job costing, and WIP schedules.
Technical & Analytical Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction industry financial practices. Proficient in accounting systems such as Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, or equivalent ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, financial modeling, VLOOKUP). Familiarity with payroll tax, corporate tax, and sales/use tax compliance.
Leadership & Communication Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial audiences. High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential data.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary Range: $160,000 – $210,000
Actual compensation will be based on experience, education, credentials, and market conditions.
