HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a Corporate Controller for their automotive group based in Norcross, GA.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced

Corporate Controller / Assistant CFO

to oversee all accounting operations, financial planning, compliance, and internal controls across our automotive group. This role will serve as a key strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership, helping drive financial performance, optimize reporting, and support sustainable business growth.

This position is on track to become CFO in a few years.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee the team of all day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AR, AP, payroll, and financial reporting Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Lead financial consolidation across all dealership locations and departments Provide variance analysis and financial commentary to management Partner with external auditors and manage the audit process

Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecasts Support long-range planning and cash flow management Analyze financial trends and KPIs, and advise leadership on risk and opportunities

Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial, tax, and legal requirements Oversee sales tax and regulatory filings for multi-state dealership operations

Operational Oversight: Collaborate with General Managers and department heads to support dealership profitability Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost control Oversee inventory accounting, floorplan reconciliation, and manufacturer financial statement submission

Leadership & Team Management: Supervise and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of accountability and growth Support and coordinate with GM’s at the dealership for compliance and accounting process Foster collaboration across departments to align financial goals with operational execution

Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CFA preferred) Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in automotive retail or dealership group Strong knowledge of GAAP, dealership financial statements, and DMS systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, Tekion) Proven leadership experience in managing multi-location or multi-entity operations Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency
