Overview
We are looking to hire a Data Analyst to support the DoD Chief Management Officer (CMO). The candidate will support business improvement initiatives throughout the DoD. Common management service areas like financial management, healthcare, acquisition and procurement, supply chain and logistics, information technology, real property and human resources management are performed across DoD, yet multiple agencies spend billions of dollars to each individually build their own technology and service capabilities. The Office of the CMO is transforming the way DoD does business internally, to drive agencies to share investments in people, business processes and technology. Our team supports development, execution, and tracking of business management reform while building ongoing management structures and improving the quality and productivity of business operations.
Responsibilities
- Supporting cross-functional teams with data analysis and data visualization support to derive actionable insights using tools such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, PowerBI, MS Excel and other MS Office suite applications.
- Supporting statistical computing analysis using tools such as R or Stata.
- Supporting data and metadata integrity and compliance by performing data validation and cleansing.
- Identifying, documenting, and communicating issues within data and determining the root cause of the problem to recommend and execute corrective action.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements in relation to data collection and processing for repeatability.
- Developing a broad understanding and documenting all data sets available throughout Business Systems Reform Team.
- Creating data model documentation that describes the flow of data from any given data set to its final output format, in accordance with policies set forth by the Government client.
- Assisting with the development, implementation, cleansing, validation, and maintenance of good and accurate data flowing from user inputs to reporting outputs.
- Educating and providing technical support as needed or requested within the scope of specific assigned responsibilities.
- Supporting the project team in all initiative endeavors.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications: Excellent technical skills, organizational and planning skills, communication, and problem-solving skills, problem analysis, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, takes initiative and is adaptable and customer service oriented.
Specifically, the ideal candidate will be familiar with, and have experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Experience working with large datasets or databases.
- Strong quantitative ability and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of writing syntax and using statistics and data analysis tools such as SPSS or Stata, R, Tableau, Qlik Sense, or other leading BI platforms (Cognos, Business Objects), R Statistical programming and methods, Oracle or MS SQL Integration.
- Ability to learn to write/modify code using the aforementioned tools above.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with minimum direction and supervision.
- Experience working with financial/contracts data is a plus.
Education and Experience: This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, social science, business or an equivalent related field from an accredited institution. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience is required. Experience working in or directly for the DoD is required.
Work Location: Work is performed on government site at the Mark Center or Pentagon, unless directed. Employees will work in close proximity with Government personnel. Core work hours are 0800 to 1700 Monday through Friday except holidays.
