Job Description:
The HR Manager will serve as the on-site HR leader for ~125 employees at the Kansas City site (and 335 employees across three total locations in Kansas City, Austin, and Indianapolis). This role provides direct HR partnership to leadership, oversees employee relations, and manages HR programs while also contributing to broader initiatives such as M&A integration and HR transformation.
Overview
The HR Manager will serve as the on-site HR leader and partner to site leadership across multiple locations, guiding HR strategy, employee relations, and HR program delivery to support business goals.
Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership: Serve as the primary HR partner to site leadership, providing coaching, guidance, and strategic input during leadership transitions. Partner with corporate leaders on talent management strategies including performance management, succession planning, and career development initiatives. Drive employee engagement and change management efforts across multiple sites. Support benefits administration and open enrollment processes.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Serve as the lead HR contact for employee relations, policy interpretation, performance concerns, and conflict resolution. Conduct thorough and timely investigations into employee complaints, ensuring fair and compliant outcomes. Stay current on HR best practices, compliance, and employment law changes to mitigate risk.
- Onboarding & HR Operations: Oversee onboarding processes and support recruitment efforts in collaboration with corporate recruiters. Utilize UKG (UltiPro) HRIS for HR operations and reporting. Support HR due diligence for prospective deals, including cultural and talent assessments. Partner with HR leadership, Total Rewards, and cross-functional teams to develop integration strategies. Contribute to integration plans around talent retention, HR systems/process harmonization, and cultural alignment.
- HR Transformation Projects: Provide leadership and project management on HR initiatives that support a “People First” culture (e.g., engagement surveys, talent management programs). Assist with HR system implementations and enhancements. Support compensation structure development and salary benchmarking in collaboration with the Total Rewards team.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of HR management experience in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
- Strong experience in employee relations, investigations, and union workforce management.
- Proven track record in leadership coaching, change management, and strategic HR partnership.
- Exposure to M&A due diligence and integration preferred.
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead HR transformation initiatives.
- Proficiency with UKG (UltiPro) strongly preferred.
