The Business Analyst plays a critical role in driving operational efficiency and informed decision-making. This position works closely with teams across the organization—including Operations, Finance, IT, and Academics—to analyze business challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and develop clear, data-driven recommendations.

By gathering and refining requirements, mapping processes, and supporting continuous improvement efforts, the Business Analyst ensures that initiatives align with organizational goals and deliver real impact. Through structured problem-solving and collaboration, this role helps Vertex optimize its resources and enhance the educational experience for students and staff.

Essential Functions

• Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, IT, and Academics to identify business needs and project objectives; facilitate meetings, interviews, and workshops; translate needs into clear documentation including process flows and functional requirements; ensure alignment between business goals and process changes.
• Process Analysis & Improvement: Evaluate current processes, identify inefficiencies, develop process maps and workflows, and recommend and implement continuous improvement strategies; collaborate to define and track KPIs for process improvements.
• Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities; use data visualization and reporting tools to present findings; develop data-driven recommendations; ensure data integrity in reports and BI tools.
• Agile & Project Support: Support cross-functional project and product teams by defining objectives and success metrics; act as a bridge between business and project/product teams; participate in planning, status meetings, and retrospectives; assist in project documentation, risk assessments, and change management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role focused on business operations, process improvement, or strategic analysis.
• Proven ability to gather, document, and refine business requirements; strong experience in process mapping, business process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations; experience working across multiple business units (Operations, Finance, Academics).

Certifications

• None required, but certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience in business analysis, operations management, or continuous improvement.
• Experience in education or nonprofit settings.
• Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI, SQL, Tableau).
• Training or certification in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
