About the Division
TTUHSC Managed Care has served the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system since 1989, providing medical, mental health, and dental services to patients in 22 facilities in West Texas. We emphasize a values-based culture in all we do.
Position Description
Performs advanced level social work. Supervises lower level clinical social workers and/or ancillary staff.
Major/Essential Functions
- Communicates with team members and supervisor in a timely manner using direct, complete, and adequate information.
- Contributes to treatment planning, reviews ITPS in line with policies, and assists with release planning. Refers appropriately and supports group therapy programming.
- Monitors and assesses patients, documents in the medical record, and conducts patient interviews by day 10 after admission.
- Manages sick calls, family communications, release planning tasks, and referrals to specialized programs in a timely manner.
- Maintains therapeutic environment, professional boundaries, and appropriate group/individual educational sessions.
- Documents in the EMR using professional language and supports clinical assessment with objective information.
- Demonstrates proficiency with technology, including EMR, Microsoft Office, and CMHC/TTUHSC systems.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral science from an accredited institution.
License/Certification: Credentialed as a Certified Social Worker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous professional workplace experience
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Clear written and oral communication; ability to prepare concise reports
- Experience presenting information to managers, clients, and the public
- Self-starter with problem-solving abilities
