IT Field Support Specialist Job at FIT Staffing in Springfield

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Field Support Specialist to support their ongoing Windows 11 deployment and physical device inventory project. This role is hands-on and requires travel to their office locations throughout Massachusetts (home office in Springfield MA; MA offices between Greenfield and Springfield) to ensure timely and accurate completion of project objectives.

To be clear, this position is contract to hire with an initial contract duration of three months before converting to a permanent position with our client. A candidate must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license and be okay with traveling.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Group Policy updates and Active Directory (AD) security updates.
• Migrate devices to Windows 11 after imaging.
• Retrieve and decommission unsupported devices.
• Conduct physical device inventory at assigned locations.
• Collaborate with IT team members to ensure smooth deployment and minimal disruption to operations.
• Utilize SCCM / MDT for imaging and deployment tasks (RMM tool training will be provided).

Provide onsite desktop support as needed during the migration process.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in desktop support and field support roles.
• Strong knowledge of Group Policy management and AD security updates.
• Hands-on experience with SCCM and / or MDT for device imaging and deployment.
• Familiarity with Windows 11 deployment processes.
• Ability to travel to multiple sites across Massachusetts (valid driver’s license required).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in large-scale OS migration projects.
• Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and transport computer equipment as needed.
• Comfort with frequent travel and onsite work.
