Women’s Product Developer - RVCA
The Women’s Product Developer plays a pivotal role in bringing the women’s apparel vision to life, transforming design concepts into production-ready garments that meet quality, cost, and timeline goals. By coordinating closely with design, merchandising, and production teams, this role ensures each style meets the brand’s performance standards, resonates with the target consumer, and maintains competitive edge in the marketplace. Through diligent vendor relationships, material sourcing, fit optimization, and cost management, the Women’s Product Developer drives continual improvements in product quality, efficiency, and overall brand value.
Key Duties Product Execution: Lead the product development process for the women’s category, from concept to production. Ensure all designs meet quality, fit, and performance standards. Vendor & Supplier Communication: Coordinate with suppliers to source fabrics, trims, and materials, ensuring they align with design intent and cost targets. Collaborate with suppliers to develop initial prototype samples and oversee the sample review and rep sample process Work with suppliers to achieve target costs while maintaining quality. Manage relationships with factories to track sample development and production timelines. Cross Functional Collaboration: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of tech packs, including design specifications, measurements, and materials. Collaborate with design and production teams to resolve technical challenges. Conduct fittings and refine the product for functionality, aesthetics, and adherence to brand standards. Ensure all technical and production details are finalized for bulk and handed off to production. Materials & Sourcing: Identify and source fabrics, trims, and other materials in collaboration with suppliers. Cost & Margin Management: Monitor costs throughout the development process to ensure margin targets are met.
Skills Excellent technical knowledge of garment construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple styles and timelines. Ability to translate design concepts into production-ready specifications. Effective communication with vendors and suppliers to ensure product feasibility and cost targets. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills for addressing quality or fit issues.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Production, Fashion Design, or related field. 5+ years of product development experience within the apparel industry. Experience working with factories, suppliers, and global production partners. Proficiency in creating and maintaining tech packs and understanding of PLM/ERP systems.
