Siro Diagnostics
Siro Diagnostics, Inc. is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and highly motivated
Senior Research Associate, Assay Development contractor
to join the R&D team and help in the development of isothermal amplification reaction based assays. This is a contract position that may be converted to a full-time position based upon business needs and company priorities . The ideal candidate will independently design and develop experiments covering all aspects of assay performance. An emphasis will be placed on new amplification chemistries, PCR primer design and NGS, etc. Candidates need to have hands-on lab experience with at least some preferably outside of an academic environment, good organizational skills, display a proactive attitude, and be flexible about their daily activities. The chosen candidate will thrive by being a self-starter with a proven track record of designing and running complex experiments with minimal supervision.
Position Responsibilities: Independently execute and design novel nucleic acid amplification techniques including isothermal amplification and PCR/RT-PCR/ddPCR Optimize multiplexing assays with Siro innovative molecular methods and technologies Test and screen new primers to improve assay performance for detection of DNA and RNA analytes Test and screen new antibodies to improve assay performance, sensitivity and selectivity for detection of antigens and antibodies analytes Develop nucleic acid detection and immunoassays, including initial development and feasibility activities, verification and validation studies Create NGS libraries from isolated DNA/RNA to further assay detection and discovery; Interpret NGS data and troubleshoot NGS method development Conduct experiments with live pathogens and human clinical samples in a biosafety level 2 lab Excellent organizational and documentation skills, able to multi-task, and efficient with hands-on laboratory research Troubleshoot problems and identify solutions to technical challenges Analyze and organize data, record and present results in a timely manner Ability to work independently and follow instructions to execute and design experiments with little to no direct oversight Additional duties as assigned Desired Skills: 2 - 6 years of experience in a lab setting B.S. or M.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related discipline. No MD, PharmD, or DVM. Solid understanding of molecular biology techniques, assay development, antibody technologies, and relevant software and data analysis tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and JMP. Experience in common methods for DNA/RNA characterization such as PCR (endpoint, real-time, droplet) Experience in immunoassays and buffer formulation Experience in bacterial growth in an aseptic environment Experience in assay optimization and troubleshooting. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment Physical Requirements: Remaining in a stationary position, often standingor sitting for a prolonged periodof time Repeating motionsthat may includethe wrists, handsand/or fingers
