Logistics Coordinator
Our client is seeking a Logistics Coordinator at their Detroit, MI location!
Overview: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the smooth flow of products through the supply chain, ensuring shipments are executed accurately, on time, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. This role works closely with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to support efficient, cost-effective delivery and inventory control while maintaining high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Ensure all logistics and environmental operations meet regulatory requirements and internal quality standards. Supervise drivers handling tankers, roll-offs, dry vans, and support staff to maintain productivity and compliance. Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness to meet customer needs. Partner with carriers, warehouses, and customers to align inventory levels with demand and prevent service disruptions. Prepare and manage shipping documents including bills of lading, manifests, labels, packing lists, and customs paperwork. Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements that enhance supply chain efficiency. Monitor compliance with DOT, RCRA, and company safety policies across all shipping and handling operations. Track, manage, and report on hazardous and universal waste shipments, ensuring proper handling and documentation. Use logistics systems and Microsoft Office tools to process orders, investigate delays, and generate performance reports. Monitor shipments in transit, update stakeholders on status, and resolve issues proactively. Analyze logistics data to identify trends, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support company objectives.
Required Skills & Competencies: Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Proficient with logistics software, shipment tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Solid understanding of inventory management, supply chain processes, and transportation optimization. Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and customer service excellence. Familiarity with Southeastern Michigan and Northeast Ohio regions is preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business preferred; equivalent experience considered. Relevant industry certifications a plus. Multiple years of experience in logistics coordination, dispatch, or related field. Knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations with hands-on compliance experience.
