Project Analyst

Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Candidate Requirements:

This role is open only to US Citizens and Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders); candidates requiring visa sponsorship (e.g., H1B, F1-OPT, F1-CPT, TN, etc.) are not eligible. While a security clearance is not required, candidates may be subject to a background check and a drug screening, which could include testing for cannabis. There would be no exceptions to the drug screening (eg: for individuals with a medical marijuana card).

Job Location:

Sterling Heights, MI (on site role).

Compensation:

$41.39/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Benefits:

Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. This role will have 7 paid holidays and 10 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.

Overview:

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire a Project Analyst to provide critical project management support within our engineering and logistics programs. This role partners closely with program and project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with established processes. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across diverse technical and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Support project managers in planning, tracking, and reporting project performance. Assist with cost and schedule management activities, including monitoring budgets, tracking expenditures, and analyzing variances. Maintain project schedules using MS Project; generate reports and dashboards for leadership. Identify, document, and track project risks, issues, and mitigation actions. Ensure compliance with company processes, standards, and contractual requirements. Prepare and maintain project documentation, including status reports, presentations, and metrics. Collaborate with engineering, logistics, finance, and operations teams to support seamless project execution. Participate in project reviews and support Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting, where applicable.

Skills, Education, Experience Required:

Bachelors degree preferred; however, candidates with strong, directly relevant experience will be considered with a relevant Associate Degree. Minimum of 2 years experience in a project management support role. Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Visio. Experience supporting cost and schedule management, risk tracking, and process compliance. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills for collaboration across multiple teams.

Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:

Bachelors degree in business, engineering, or related discipline. Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification. Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM). Familiarity with Waterfall project management methodologies. Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or other regulated industries.

Work Environment:

This is a 1st (day) shift role on a 9/80 schedule. Typical hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm with every other Friday off (Fridays worked are a 6 hour day). This will be an on-site role (no remote work). There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x. Offer may be contingent on a background check and a drug screening, which would include testing for cannabis.
