About The Role The Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the revenue cycle process to maximize financial performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves managing billing, coding, collections, insurance verification, and denials management across the organization, including clinics and hospital partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of behavioral health services and insurance requirements, strong leadership skills, and a strategic approach to optimizing revenue cycle operations. Responsibilities Develop and implement tailored strategies to enhance revenue cycle processes specific to behavioral health, reducing costs and improving revenue capture and collections efficiency. Manage, train, and support revenue cycle team members in billing, coding, and collections, fostering an environment focused on professional growth and operational efficiency. Ensure all revenue cycle functions comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and behavioral health-specific rules and payer guidelines. Maintain awareness of evolving regulations affecting behavioral health reimbursements. Oversee the accurate and timely submission of claims, work to reduce denials, and address claim rejections, with an emphasis on mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services. Partner with intake and patient access teams to ensure smooth, compliant, and accurate patient data collection, authorization, and verification processes to improve billing accuracy. Leverage and maintain behavioral health-specific RCM software and work with IT to enhance system capabilities, supporting accurate data reporting and process automation. Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as days in accounts receivable (A/R), denial rates, and net collection rates. Report performance, trends, and improvement areas to senior management regularly. Collaborate with finance and clinical teams to prepare revenue forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis to support organizational financial health. Work closely with clinical staff, case management, and administrative teams to align revenue cycle processes with patient care quality and compliance in behavioral health billing and coding. Identify and lead improvement projects to streamline revenue cycle operations, reduce claim denial rates, and optimize behavioral health reimbursements. Requirements MUST HAVE mental health billing experience MUST KNOW CMD Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred). 7+ years of revenue cycle management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a behavioral health or mental health setting 3+ years of experience within a leadership role Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), or similar certification in behavioral health revenue cycle management preferred. Expertise in behavioral health billing, coding, and collections processes, including CPT and ICD coding for mental health services. Knowledge of behavioral health reimbursement models and compliance standards. Proficiency in RCM software, specifically for behavioral health settings. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Exceptional leadership and communication skills, able to work effectively with clinical and administrative teams. Additional Information The expected base pay for this role will be between $150,000 to $200,000 annually at the commencement of employment. However, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location and years of experience. Further, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Psychplus Health-sponsored benefits.
