• Job Title: Pediatric Hospitalist
• Job Type: Locum Tenens

• Coverage Period: 12/01/2025 Ongoing (with initial focus on 2 4 month contract)

• Primary need: 7 consecutive days during Christmas week and into January
• Anticipated contract length: 2 4 months

• Patient Demographics: Pediatric inpatients
• Patient Volume/Census: Average 26 newborns per day (not included in locum service)
• Admissions: Yes, inpatient admissions required
• Rounding: Included
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: General pediatrics
• Procedures: Lumbar punctures (required)
FACILITY INFORMATION
• Beds: 36 medical/surgical pediatric beds; 70 NICU beds (not covered by locum)
• Nursery: Level I nursery (not covered by locum)
• Practice: 6 physicians currently, expanding to 9 total; 2 experienced nurse practitioners (1 nursery-only, 1 pediatric floors with 12-patient daily load)
• Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage during recruitment and peak seasonal needs
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (credentialing 30 days)
• Credentialing Timeline: 30 days
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Rate: Fixed (Daily OT after 12 hours; Weekly OT after 168 hours)
• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered (details TBD)
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Lumbar punctures (must be proficient and independent)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active Florida license required
• Board: Board Certified in Pediatrics
• DEA: Active DEA Certification required
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NICA membership/receipts
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in pediatric hospital medicine
• Other Qualifications: Submission of updated CV, NPDB (within 3 months), and case logs covering 24 inpatient records within past 12 months (with patient age noted preferred)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Round on pediatric inpatients and manage admissions
• Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and multidisciplinary team
• Provide daytime pediatric floor coverage only (no nursery or NICU responsibilities)
• Work in collaboration with experienced nurse practitioners on the pediatric floors
• Ensure high-quality inpatient care during holiday periods and coverage gaps
