Job SummaryThe Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns. This role requires strong clinical judgment, newborn stabilization skills, and the ability to manage patients autonomously, particularly during nights and weekends.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care for laboring, postpartum, and high-risk patients, as well as newborns.
- Stabilize newborns and manage critical maternal conditions, including hypertensive crisis and hemorrhage protocol.
- Serve as newborn nurse during C-sections (not circulating).
- Titrate and manage drips such as Magnesium and Pitocin (Insulin if transferring out).
- Document patient care in Epic EMR and maintain compliance with AWHONN guidelines.
- Collaborate with OB physicians, pediatricians, and anesthesiology teams, including managing laboring patients independently when physicians are offsite.
- Participate in self-scheduling and equitable weekend/holiday rotations with core staff.
- Float as needed to provide helping hands or act as a safety attendant, ensuring patient safety across units.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience – Required
- Strong Labor & Delivery background with recent LDRP or postpartum exposure – Required
- Experience with newborn stabilization – Required
- Ability to manage patients autonomously, especially nights and weekends – Required
Licenses & Certifications
- Active RN license (state or compact) – Required
- BLS (American Heart Association) – Required
- ACLS (American Heart Association) – Required
- NRP – Required
- STABLE – Required (can obtain prior to start)
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced – Required
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program – Required
- BSN – Preferred
