The Watergate Hotel is situated within walking distance of the best the city has to offer. Strategic Intent To plan and deliver a creative and practical sales strategy that positions The Watergate Hotel as a luxury hotel and delivers a strong revenue stream in each of the revenue centers: Rooms (Groups/Transient), Banquet and Catering and outlets. Organizational Structure Reports to: Managing Director, dotted line to Hotel Owners. Reporting: Sales, Banquet and Catering. General Duties And Responsibilities

Direct the strategy and solicitation efforts of the sales Banquet and Catering staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel. Work closely with Owner and director of Marketing to create collateral and e-marketing campaigns to drive seasonal demand across group, transient and catering segments. Ensure proper recording of all sales and Revenue management activities carried out by the team with weekly sales reporting/meetings in place. Manage human resources within the department including selection & recruitment, training & development, team building, staff performance planning and review. Resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate. Ensure staff abide by hotel policies and procedures. Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and hotel standards of performance are met. Provide guidance and counsel staff toward improvement. Prepare reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales and Revenue Management Department, including annual and monthly Forecast, Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, star reports and meeting minutes. Manage departmental expenses and budget. Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and develop new sales strategies; make recommendations to improve potential from various markets. Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Promote company programs internally. Meet with and entertain clients, some of whom will require travel. Communicate clearly with staff to provide direction. Prepare and execute computerized annual Sales Plan and adjust plans as market conditions warrant. Develop realistic, transparent goals broken down by key market segments, presented as a personal business plan. Monitor revenue performance of key accounts. Analyze sales performance statistics and adjust sales team strategy according to market changes; review deployment of team members. Participate in planning and organizing key exhibitions, roadshows and sales trips to maximize brand coverage and optimize short-, medium-, and long-term business. Conduct timely sales meetings with Sales, Catering, Revenue Management teams to provide professional direction on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Interface with key corporate accounts to build a network of professional contacts to drive high-yielding business. Liaise with all department heads to coordinate sales issues and ensure effective execution. Report clearly and transparently to Ownership. Liaise with Preferred Hotels & Resorts representatives and discuss market trends, pace and sales initiatives. Experience And Requirements Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to pitch in and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors. Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations. Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions. Ability to travel as required for the job function. Seniority level
