Job Description Salary: Summary of position As a department of one, the HR Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the full employee lifecycle across both our office and warehouse locations. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations including payroll processing, benefits administration, talent acquisition, compliance, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, adaptable professional who thrives in a hands-on role and can independently lead HR initiatives that foster a positive and compliant workplace.
Responsibilities Processes bi-weekly payroll in an accurate and timely manner using Paychex Flex Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified candidates; partners with hiring managers to align staffing needs with required skills and competencies Administers 401(k) compliance and reporting requirements Manages employee insurance benefits, including enrolment, administration, and annual renewals Maintains and updates employee personnel files in compliance with company policies and legal requirements Oversees leave of absence programs including FMLA, coordinating with Workers Compensation and ADA accommodations as needed Monitors, tracks, and documents completion of mandatory and voluntary training, continuing education, and performance assessments Participates in performance review and talent development processes Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, escalating complex issues as appropriate Attends and supports employee relations matters including disciplinary meetings, conflict resolution, and terminations Provides guidance to managers on the consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures Conducts internal investigations related to employee complaints or allegations of misconduct Maintains and updates the employee handbook to reflect current laws, company practices, and policy changes Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends policy and procedural updates to maintain compliance Stays current on HR trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in human resources, talent management, and employment law Provides HR support to both our office and warehouse locations Performs additional HR duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field required 35 years of progressive experience in human resources Experience with Paychex and supporting warehouse or operations-based environments is a plus Strong verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization Skilled in conflict resolution, negotiation, and handling sensitive employee relations matters Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail Effective time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information Comfortable working in a fast-paced and occasionally noisy environment
Please note:This position requires a minimum of three days in-office once fully trained, two days at our office location and one day at our warehouse location, both based in St. Louis.
