This role blends sales, customer service, and event know-how to create seamless catering experiences for our clients. WHAT YOU'LL DO Build strong connections with new and existing clients Bring our menus to life by confidently guiding clients through food and portion selections Collaborate with our sales and operations teams to create smooth, memorable client experiences Write proposals, enter orders, and manage contracts, invoicing, and receivables Communicate clearly and professionally via phone, email, and in person Represent Catering by Michaels at networking groups, showcases, and industry events Stay tuned in to competitor activity and industry trends Build relationships with influencers and key partners in the catering and events space Attend internal meetings to align with culinary, sales, and production teams Jump in on occasional events to see your work come to life Always keep customer service and safety top of mind Tackle additional projects that support the growth and success of the team Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, including any department specific training regarding equipment and procedures Perform other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT A degree in a related field OR 3+ years of culinary sales experience At least 2 years in catering sales with a proven track record of success Ability to sell and service events for groups of 10 to 500 guests Active member of at least one catering, hospitality, or related professional organization A self-proclaimed 'foodie' who can share passion for food, beverage, and service with clients Comfortable collaborating with culinary and operations teams to drive revenue Strong multi-tasker with excellent phone and communication skills Professional presence and a client-first mindset Skilled at managing files, rebooking events, and communicating throughout the BEO process Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and (bonus points) Caterease software Flexible schedule (days, evenings, some weekends, and holidays) Passionate about hospitality and driven to exceed customer expectations
TRAVEL Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel may be expected.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and occasionally reach with hands and arms to lift office products and supplies up to 30 pounds.
