Overview

Truck Driver/Operations Specialist at CHS Inc. – Walla Walla, WA. CHS Primekland is seeking a reliable and dedicated team player to fill this role. This position involves preparing trucks for loading and unloading, operating heavy and light machinery, performing regular maintenance, and delivering agricultural products to customer sites. Additional duties include assisting with harvest operations, warehouse tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, carry out general labor responsibilities promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, including sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching/detaching hoses.
  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and/or trucks using appropriate machinery.
  • Perform and record repairs and maintenance tasks; regularly inspect in-use equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory quality (blended, bulk or packaged products).
  • Deliver products (fertilizer, chemical, seed, feed, etc.) to customer sites on time and safely.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws including pre-trip/post-trip reporting, load securement and hours of service.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and vehicles; perform housekeeping and record-keeping tasks.
  • Operate warehouse equipment as needed (loader, forklift) and handle inventory.
  • Report customer complaints, repairs, or safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Promote and follow a strong safety culture and comply with safety policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure smooth facility operation and excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in Operations and/or Trucking Operations
  • Must meet minimum age requirement
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English and understand highway signs and signals

Additional Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Maintain or obtain a CDL and DOT medical card
  • Ability to work additional hours and occasional weekends
  • Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brake endorsements preferred
  • Valid Class A CDL preferred
  • Agriculture background and customer service experience preferred
  • Bulk liquid, Pressure trailer, or Forklift experience preferred
  • Pre-employment screenings may be required as per job requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins and into back of trailer
  • Ability to work in dust, adverse weather conditions and temperatures
