Responsibilities

  • Oversight and support for employees within the Midwest Business Unit.
  • Manage the Employee Relations Team responsible for supporting multiple Business Units in receiving, investigating, and resolving employee concerns.
  • Provide support to the Global HR Director related to companywide initiatives and HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR is accessible to all employees by maintaining an open-door policy, handling concerns and/or issues, conducting detailed investigations, offering viable solutions and actions to reach closure, and maintaining integrity and confidentiality of all parties.
  • Maintain business relationships by understanding strategies and operations, attending client meetings, assisting in preparation of presentations, answering questions, explaining policies and procedures, and providing viable alternatives.
  • Identify training and development needs by analyzing operational results, job requirements, problems, plans, forecasts and current training programs; research and consult with subject matter and design implementation experts as necessary.
  • Provide for effective use of human capital by ensuring integration of succession planning, performance management, career development, recruiting, job study analysis and workforce diversity to support business strategies.
  • Respond to legal charges such as Wage & Hour complaints and EEOC claims in conjunction with company legal counsel; ensure timely EEOC responses and resolve EEOC complaints through mediation.
  • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying and reviewing laws, auditing and enforcing adherence, rendering opinions, and advising management on actions needed.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions; allocate program costs by preparing operational and risk reports.
  • Increase employees’ effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training; communicate job expectations and organizational objectives; coach, counsel and discipline; plan, monitor and appraise results; foster a climate that supports information sharing and learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to team effort by achieving Financial and Key Result Areas pursuant to Company plan guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; other combinations of experience and education that meet requirements may be substituted.
  • Five years of experience in human resources with at least three years in a management role.
  • Expertise with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, standing, walking and keyboard use; occasional bending, reaching and lifting up to 35 pounds; travel to store locations as necessary.
