Overview

DataStaff, Inc. is seeking a Business Analyst for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Richmond, VA. This position is hybrid - 3 days per week on-site.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex processes and systems and break them down into manageable parts.
• Identify root causes and develop solutions, not just address symptoms.

Technical Proficiency

• Familiarity with enterprise software, like Oracle and SQL Server.
• Understanding of databases (SQL), APIs, and Data Flow Diagrams.
• Not necessarily a developer but should have a strong understanding of how IT systems work.

Requirements Gathering Proficiency

• Experience conducting stakeholder interviews and workshops.
• Ability to write clear, testable, functional, and non-functional requirements.
• Familiarity with using Azure DevOps (TFS) for creating and managing agile items (Product backlog, Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Test Plans, and Test Cases).
• Prepare diagrams explaining modifications so technical staff and executive management can visualize and understand what must be done. Experience creating wireframes or visualizations (Visio) from requirements.

Agile/Waterfall Knowledge

• Experience working with Agile/Scrum (including SAFe) and Waterfall projects.

Other Required And Demonstrated Work Skills

• Translate between technical teams and business users effectively.
• Write clear documents and deliver strong presentations.
• Handle pushback, negotiate priorities, and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
• Experience with Business Process Modeling using Swim Lanes and Flow Chart Diagrams.
• Experience rolling out new systems/processes and managing user adoption.
• Assist with User Acceptance Testing in addition to system integration testing (IT Testing).

Required Skills

• 5+ years - Agile Business Analyst with strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodologies.
• 5+ years - Proficiency with Scrum, Agile, Scaled Agile, and Kanban methodologies.
• 5+ years - Experience organizing and maintaining sprint and product backlogs.
• 5+ years - Experience translating client and product strategy requirements into application requirements and user stories.
• 5+ years - Documenting high-level Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Cases and execution.
• 5+ years - Ability to analyze and document business and system processes.

Desired Skill

• Prior VA IT Business Analyst experience strongly preferred.
