About the role Anthropic is seeking a Web Editorial Designer specializing in content-driven web design and digital storytelling to help bring our AI research, insights, and complex technical concepts to life through compelling editorial web experiences. In this role, you'll craft thoughtfully designed web pages that transform dense research papers, policy insights, and AI safety concepts into accessible, engaging digital narratives that educate and inform diverse audiences.

This role sits at the intersection of design, and technology, requiring someone who can think strategically about content presentation while executing exceptional design craft. Responsibilities:
Lead the design of web experiences that transform complex AI research, policy papers, and technical documentation into accessible, engaging digital narratives using CMS platforms Build flexible design systems that maintain brand integrity while adapting to different content types and publication needs Transform technical research into compelling digital narratives through thoughtful information architecture, data visualization, and interactive storytelling Establish and evolve comprehensive design systems, standards, and workflows specifically for editorial content, setting organizational standards for research publication design and cross-team collaboration processes Pioneer new methodologies for presenting technical research online Work strategically with design engineers to translate complex editorial designs into scalable, performant web experiences, providing clear design specifications, technical requirements, and iterative feedback while understanding development constraints and opportunities to enhance editorial content presentation You may be a good fit if you:
Have a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in editorial design, whether in digital publishing, news organizations, research institutions, or content-focused web design, with examples of transforming complex information into clear, engaging web experiences Demonstrate deep understanding of typography, information hierarchy, and content organization principles, with experience designing for long-form content, research publications, or educational materials Have experience working with researchers, academics, journalists, or policy experts to translate complex subject matter into accessible web content Can create clear, accurate visualizations and infographics that support editorial content Have hands-on experience with content management systems and low-code tools, with understanding of how to optimize for editorial workflows Strong commitment to creating accessible web experiences that serve diverse audiences, including those accessing technical content in multiple languages or with varying levels of subject matter expertise Experience working in cross-functional teams with non-design stakeholders, particularly content creators, researchers, or editorial staff, with ability to translate feedback into effective design solutions Balance high editorial standards with practical constraints, making thoughtful tradeoffs while maintaining accuracy and quality in fast-paced environments
