Our fleet is the backbone of our business, enabling our teams to serve customers reliably and efficiently. Role Summary We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Fleet Management to lead our nationwide fleet operations. This leader will oversee all aspects of fleet management including preventative maintenance, OEM partnerships, telematics, fuel optimization, and compliance. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing large-scale fleets, driving cost efficiencies, and implementing technology-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities Fleet Strategy & Oversight. Lead the strategic planning and execution of fleet operations across all branches. Manage a fleet of ~2,000 vehicles including light-duty, medium-duty, and specialty service vehicles. Develop and monitor KPIs for fleet performance, cost, uptime, and safety. Preventative Maintenance & Repairs. Design and implement a robust preventative maintenance program to maximize vehicle lifespan and minimize downtime. Oversee in-house and third-party maintenance teams, ensuring timely service and repairs. OEM & Vendor Relationships Serve as primary liaison with OEMs and fleet vendors to negotiate contracts, warranties, and service agreements. Evaluate and select vehicle models based on operational needs, cost, and reliability. Telematics & Technology. Deploy and manage telematics systems to monitor vehicle health, driver behavior, and route optimization. Analyze data to identify trends, reduce fuel consumption, and improve operational efficiency. Fuel Management. Implement fuel card programs and monitor fuel usage across the fleet. Identify opportunities for cost savings through route planning, driver training, and fuel sourcing. Compliance & work with Safety team on goals and training. Ensure fleet operations comply with DOT, EPA, and other regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections, registrations, and driver certifications. Budgeting & Reporting. Develop and manage fleet budgets, including capital expenditure and operating costs. Provide regular reports for executive leadership on fleet performance, cost trends, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications 10+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, preferably in a multi-site or branch-based service organization. Proven success managing fleets of 1,000+ vehicles. Deep knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, telematics systems, and fuel management strategies. Strong negotiation skills and experience managing OEM/vendor relationships. Familiarity with DOT regulations, fleet compliance, and safety protocols. Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
