Role Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist plays an instrumental role in monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures, managing employee relations, and overseeing the recruitment and onboarding process. The Human Resource Generalist will focus on developing employee programs, facilitating performance reviews, and promoting career development, all while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining a positive workplace culture.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Monitor and update policies and procedures, including checklists and standard operating procedures. Conduct audits of employee records and update the HRIS system as necessary. Respond to employment verification requests as required. Administer biannual employee surveys and present comparative results to the Leadership team and employees. Recommend improvements and lead the implementation of new actions or policies approved by the Leadership team. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements; develop and enforce personnel policies and guidelines while investigating employee complaints. Manage employee advocacy, conflict resolution, and provide guidance on disciplinary actions. Assist in recruitment by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, and facilitating sourcing, screening, interviewing, and contract issuance. Facilitate new hire orientation, including benefits enrollment, database updates, background checks, and creation of personnel files, ensuring timely communication with payroll. Monitor and report key departmental metrics at Leadership and Town Hall meetings. Create and manage budgets for employee rewards, dues, subscriptions, memberships, and training. Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify areas for organizational improvement. Stay current on HR trends and best practices. Maintain Key Performance Indicators aligned with the company’s #1 Place to Work initiatives. Develop and manage employee benefits and wellness programs, overseeing administration and open enrollment. Coordinate employee development plans and performance management initiatives. Promote career development and job training opportunities. Facilitate employee recognition programs and assist in coordinating company events. Enhance EarthKind core values and goals among employees, vendors, and customers. Foster a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with OSHA and relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills: Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of labor laws and employment equity regulations. Strong HR administration and people management skills. Familiarity with HR functions and best practices. Proficient in MS Office, email, and relevant HR software. Education:
A bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent experience. SHRM Certification (PHR or CP) Preferred. Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary. Other Skills:
Attention to detail and accuracy is critical Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and conflict management skills. Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to and from facilities near the main office or location as needed. Ability to communicate orally with customers, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing with normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations. Work requires visual acuity in order to prepare and analyze data at a distance close to the eyes and to prepare or inspect documents. Sitting for extended periods is common but the ability to stand for extended periods of time is required. No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment. Work Environment:
Works in a home office or office environment. Occasionally may be exposed to dust, odors, oils, cleaning solvents, lubricants, and noise if a walk through the manufacturing and warehouse environment is required.
