Duties/Responsibilities: Serve as a specialized advanced practice provider (NP or PA) who provides comprehensive foot and ankle care, including diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatments, performing minor procedures, and educating patient on foot and ankle preventative care Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical and chronically ill patients Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients’ age-specific needs Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability including, but not limited to serving in the first assisting role Assists with the provision of surgical care, if necessary, in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations Monitors effectiveness of interventions Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings Collaborates with physician and multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by preceding educational tools Authorizes treatments and educates patients and families on preventative and continued care for diabetes, circulatory issues and other conditions impacting the foot and ankle Nurse Practitioner (NP) Competencies General Customer Service Professionalism/Integrity/Responsibility Teamwork/Process Focus Dependability/Punctuality Interpersonal
