Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer - San Francisco, US Based role at Robot.com. Location: San Francisco, US. Responsibilities
Designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for robotic platforms. Creating detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications using CAD software (SolidWorks). Supporting the integration of mechanical systems with electronic and software components. Troubleshooting and debugging mechanical systems to ensure functionality and reliability. Finding and testing materials and manufacturing processes to enhance robotic systems. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Leading failure analysis and risk assessment for mechanical components in robotic systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including electrical, industrial design, and software engineers, to ensure seamless system integration. Staying updated on emerging technologies and trends in mechanical design and robotics. Qualifications
Required
Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks). Knowledge of materials science, structural mechanics, and thermal properties. Familiarity with manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining, 3D printing, and injection molding. +3 years of experience in designing products for medium- or large-scale production. Experience with rapid prototyping. Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Nice to have
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. +5 years of experience in designing products for medium- or large-scale production. Knowledge of robotics-specific mechanisms such as robotic arms, grippers, and mobile robots. Experience with kinematics, dynamics, and control systems. Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and actuation systems. Experience with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
