Workday Engineer III - Advanced Compensation Please note this role is based in Seattle and follows our flexible work model, requiring a minimum of three in-office days per week.
Introduction to Team Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Workday Advanced Compensation Developer to take ownership of the design, configuration, and optimization of the annual Compensation cycle. This position is best suited for someone with strong expertise in Workday Advanced Compensation who excels in a hands-on development role and enjoys tackling complex compensation initiatives. The role also includes opportunities to lead cross-functional collaboration and project coordination, making it well-suited for someone who enjoys building scalable solutions and seeing them through to successful delivery. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering three or more end-to-end merit cycles, demonstrating both technical depth and operational ownership.
In this role, you will:
Workday Advanced Compensation Development: Design and present scalable technical solutions to support strategic compensation initiatives. Configure and maintain Advanced Compensation plans in Workday, including merit, bonus, and stock components. Develop and manage eligibility rules, condition logic, calculated fields, and business processes. Collaborate with People and Compensation teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective Workday configurations. Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and provide support during compensation cycles. Ensure data integrity and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Experience and qualifications:
Required: 4+ years of hands-on experience with Workday Advanced Compensation. Strong understanding of Workday HCM, Core Compensation, and Business Process Framework. Proven track record of delivering 3+ end-to-end merit cycles. Proficiency in Workday EIBs, calculated fields, and custom reports. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration abilities. Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy. Proactive and solution-focused mindset. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred: Qualifications and Cross-Functional Experience Workday Pro or Workday Certification in Advanced Compensation Experience managing HRIS or compensation-related projects Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP, Scrum, Agile) Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Technical Project Management (TPM) Experience Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle for the annual Advanced Compensation cycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables Coordinate cross-functional teams including People Org, Compensation, and external vendors Facilitate regular status meetings, risk assessments, and issue resolution Provide executive-level reporting and updates on project progress and outcomes
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
