Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced HR Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across human resources, security, and IT functions. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This role is fully onsite in Portland, Oregon.
HR Director Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long-term human resources and health/safety programs aligned with business goals.
- Oversee recruitment, training, compensation, benefits, safety, employee relations, and compliance through management of HR teams.
- Partner with managers to address complex employee relations and performance matters.
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives, offering HR expertise to support organizational projects and improvements.
- Establish and monitor policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Guide senior leadership on workforce planning, resource allocation, and project implementations.
- Promote continuous improvement in HR processes, reporting, and performance outcomes.
HR Director Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR) preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR generalist experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role; 10+ years with 5+ years in management preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to design and administer performance management, training, development, and wellness programs.
- Experience in benefits administration, safety programs, workers’ compensation, and leave management.
- Skilled in employee relations, conflict resolution, and maintaining a positive, non-union workplace environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to change and influence at all levels of the organization.
