A law firm seeks a talented Procurement Attorney to join its dynamic legal team in Washington, DC. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a cross-functional team and contribute to high-level procurement initiatives. In this role, you’ll manage various procurement-related matters, offering legal counsel and strategic guidance for complex vendor agreements, ensuring compliance, and mitigating legal and business risks. Duties Provide legal advice to the firm, collaborating with the procurement team to navigate contract drafting, negotiation, and compliance for key vendor relationships and third-party engagements. Negotiate, draft, and review various commercial agreements, including IT supplier contracts, data privacy agreements, event and speaker contracts, software licensing, and master service agreements. Counsel case teams on vendor-related issues, including retention agreements with expert witnesses, local counsel, and eDiscovery vendors. Work with internal stakeholders across departments such as operations, procurement, and information security to streamline and enhance the procurement process. Identify potential legal, compliance, and business risks in existing and new contracts and provide solutions to mitigate those issues. Create and update standardized contract templates, develop playbooks, and deliver training to maintain consistent contracting practices across the firm. Stay informed of evolving legal developments and trends relevant to procurement, ensuring the firm’s agreements reflect the latest legal requirements. Oversee procurement processes and collaborate with other teams to ensure standardized contracting policies and procedures are followed. Requirements Strong expertise in negotiating and drafting complex contracts with precision and clarity. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys and staff at various levels. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, a keen eye for detail, and a creative approach to solving complex problems. Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree required. Skills Demonstrated experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in corporate legal environments, focusing on procurement or contract law. Familiarity with cloud-based providers, artificial intelligence, and technology solutions is beneficial.
