ArtMix is seeking its next President and CEO, a caring, passionate and visionary leader who can build on the organization’s solid foundation of quality programming and a welcoming community to provide even greater access to the arts for students with disabilities. For over 40 years, ArtMix has been a leader in transforming the lives of people with disabilities through the creation of art. And ArtMix is an innovator, recognized nationally as a model for creative youth development, reaching and supporting thousands of people each year.

ArtMix offers a variety of programs in multiple locations—in the ArtMix studios, in schools and the community—led by a talented team of professional teaching artists. The organization is well known for its Urban Artisans internship program, which helps 16-22 year-olds make the transition from school to workplace, in the process creating amazing art that is sold in the ArtMix gallery and at outlets throughout Indianapolis.

This is an exciting time for ArtMix and its next President and CEO. Strong programs and a diverse funding base make it possible to explore growth and provide services to even more students. To take advantage of the possibilities available, the ideal candidate will be external facing, have a growth and revenue-focused mindset and be driven to innovate and implement new opportunities for the organization. Internally, the next leader will commit to maintaining a positive environment for staff and clients, while also introducing new systems and processes that keep ArtMix on the cutting edge of nonprofit business best practices. Candidates must be: • Passionate about the arts and disability services, including access, diversity and inclusion • A strong leader who is optimistic, motivational, and bring both a big-picture perspective and the ability to implement it • An excellent relationship builder and communicator who can articulate why ArtMix is an important part of our community

Ideal candidates for President and CEO will bring: • Energy and compassion • Desire to connect with people around inclusive art • Fundraising and grant writing experience • A bachelor’s degree or significant experience • Experience supervising staff • Staff or significant volunteer experience in the nonprofit sector • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Partnership-building and strategic thinking is essential. • Arts and/or disability services experience is highly desirable. • The CEO role is not an artistic role, the candidate should have previous experience in financial management, board governance, fundraising and personnel management.

Compensation:

$95k plus $6,000 annual healthcare stipend.
