Under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, the Sr. Nurse Anesthetist will perform safe anesthesia care, including: pre-operative assessment, writing of appropriate pre-op orders as per approved procedures, administration of various anesthetic techniques, intra-operative patient monitoring, managing intra-op course and emergence, and assisting in post-operative care. Work shifts may vary between 8, 10, or 12 hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, totaling 40 hours per week, with on-call shifts. Assignments will be across various ORs.
Salary range: $126.12-$160/hourly
Required: Knowledge of current nursing, anesthesia, and critical care techniques, evidenced by:
- Valid California RN and CRNA license
- Graduation from an accredited Master's or DNP program in Nurse Anesthesia
- Current certification/re-certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
Required: Ability to perform thorough pre-, intra-, and post-operative assessments and develop safe anesthesia care plans.
Required: Skill in pre-operative assessment of surgical and non-surgical patients, including:
- Identification of pre-existing conditions and their impact on anesthesia care, documentation of medical history, physical exams, labs, ECG, and chest X-ray
- Understanding drug interactions with anesthesia plans across all ages
- Identifying physical exam abnormalities that may affect anesthesia management
- Understanding indications for delaying elective surgery or requiring pre-op specialty consultation
Required: Ability to explain anesthesia techniques, alternatives, risks, and obtain documented informed consent.
Required: Skill in documenting anesthesia records comprehensively for all perioperative events.
Required: Skill in airway management, interpreting physiological monitoring data, and adjusting interventions to ensure patient safety across all age groups.
Required: Ability to insert venous and arterial lines under medical direction.
Required: Knowledge of pharmacology related to anesthesia practice, including drug effects and contraindications.
Required: Skill in performing MAC, regional, and general anesthesia techniques used at UCLA for all ages.
Required: Ability to recognize signs of safe emergence from anesthesia, transport patients to recovery, and provide detailed reports to subsequent medical personnel.
Required: Knowledge of current clinical, educational, and research techniques, demonstrated through experience, credentials, and licensure.
Minimum of 2 years CRNA experience required.
