Overview
MGMA is seeking a Data Project Analyst to join our Denver/hybrid team. The Data Project Analyst is responsible for assisting in producing nationally recognized health care surveys, products and projects by setting goals, developing questionnaires, managing timelines, analyzing and editing data, and communicating results to internal and external audiences. Responsibilities
- Lead survey projects with responsibility for project and project team oversight, meeting deadlines within budget. May serve as project lead with responsibility for project oversight.
- Develops and programs files used for automated report and data analysis for all MGMA surveys.
- Ensure quality review of MGMA survey reports with applicable subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Identify and deploy process improvement ideas to streamline efficiency and accuracy of survey data and other products.
- Oversee and participate in data editing and verification; evaluate and assess statistical data from returned survey questionnaires; determine outliers and extreme values using industry knowledge and statistical measures.
- Develop programs for data editing and data analysis for project creation for all MGMA surveys within internal software.
- Apply tests to find inconsistent logic or data problems, research identified issues, and maintain data integrity.
- Design survey questionnaires and definition booklets; produce statistical tables and graphs; develop new statistical tables and participate in new product development.
- Assist with review of supplemental research and analysis data reports; participate in reviews of survey materials with MGMA committees.
- Develop training plans for new employees and manage task assignments, progress monitoring, and training adequacy.
- Pull and manage data for press releases and MGMA publications; assist team with cohort analysis, webinars, and presentations.
- Participate in presentations with MGMA members and at MGMA conferences where applicable.
- Communicate with survey respondents to discuss practices structure, verify data, ensure survey applicability, and expand upon submitted data.
- Provide technical interpretation of revenue, expenses, staffing, cost efficiency, and production information; answer inquiries regarding survey reports from practice administrators, consultants, and others.
- Manage day-to-day work assignments, data editing, data verification and data entry as necessary.
- Collaborate across departments to promote, maintain, and utilize survey data.
- Respond to custom analysis requests from members.
- Maintain confidentiality of all survey data.
- Meet established timelines for survey reporting.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Promote and support MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Knowledge of survey design, sampling, evaluation, and assessment.
- Understanding of health care trends and descriptive statistics; familiarity with statistics packages, and database systems.
- Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to convey complex statistical ideas to members and customers.
- Ability to lead teams and train staff; identify problems, research alternatives, and implement solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment and creativity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of major operating and database systems.
- Ability to manage day-to-day workload related to data editing, verification, and entry.
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Health or Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, Economics, Accounting, or related field is required.
- A Master’s Degree in any of the above fields is preferred.
Experience
- Three (3) or more years of experience in health care or business administration, survey research, or related field is required.
- Experience in project design or management is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements / Licenses / Certifications
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
