RECREATION WORCESTER FALL INTERN YOUTH OPPORTUNTIES CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for a

Recreation Worcester Fall Intern

in the Youth Opportunities Department. The Recreation Worcester Fall Intern will assist the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) with planning, coordination, and support for Recreation Worcester (RW) and other DYO programs such as the Worcester Cares 4 Kids Virtual Babysitting Program and the Youth Council. The internship will focus on administrative tasks, event support, and project assistance to execute year-round operations and prepare for the next program season.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

Collaborate with Recreation Worcester & Division of Youth Opportunities staff to handle day-to-day requests.

Assist in the preparation of data, supplies, and equipment vital to the operation of Recreation Worcester and other DYO programs.

Attend community events to promote Recreation Worcester programming and other resources.

Work with the Program Coordinator & Assistant Program Coordinator to develop social media and training content.

Analyze data and evaluation methods for Recreation Worcester participants, staff, and community partners to assess program efficacy.

Track, organize, and maintain program supplies and equipment.

Assist with event and community outreach logistics, including scheduling, setup, on-site support, and breakdown.

SECONDARY ELEMENTS:

Order office and summer program supplies.

Plan meetings and take detailed notes.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Proficiency with computers and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.

Ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members.

Ability to work with youth of diverse backgrounds aged 16-24

Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask

Regular on-site attendance is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous administrative experience in an office setting

Must pass background checks for both CORI & SORI

Excellent communication skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of administrative experience in an office setting

One (1) year of experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities

One (1) year of experience facilitating activities and programming

SALARY:

$15.00 hourly, part-time, non-benefitted.
