GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Deputy Clerk is responsible for entering and updating information in CCMS, FAS, and CIS. Interacting with Judges, law enforcement officers, attorneys, the public, and defendants on a day-to-day basis. Assist co-workers within the office and other offices as needed by answering phones and helping in any area as needed in the Clerk's Office. Maintain proper working relationships with co-workers as well as the public and other offices. Assist the public with requests and communicates court procedures and office policy. Assist with preparing restricted licenses, marriage licenses, concealed handgun permits, and other documents. Assist the public, attorney offices, and other agencies with any requests., filing documents, search warrants, and obtaining information. Operate all equipment as necessary. Duties require accuracy and a close attention to detail as well as confidentiality. Performs other related duties as required by the Clerk. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares a variety of court orders and prepares various reports for submission to the State Supreme Court and other offices. Accurately and properly record court hearings, maintain exhibits, and create case notes based on the case before the Court. Assist attorneys, probation officers, law enforcement officers/agents, and the general public in respect to case information and filing legal documents. Attends docketing sessions with judges and attorneys. Dockets (schedules) court hearings based upon information exchanged during sessions. Distributes dockets to involved parties. Update and input case management system and all criminal paperwork. REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by business school or college level courses or training in business administration or a related field.
Experience
Required: Considerable experience in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Certifications/ Licenses
None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the Circuit Court system and its operations Thorough knowledge of standard office terminology, procedures and techniques Ability to operate and instruct others on the operation of a variety of office equipment Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and other employees Ability to perform arithmetical computations Ability to read and understand legal documents Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to maintain confidentiality of information handled within the office
