Landfill QA Technician
for a role with a growing environmental and engineering services firm. This field-based position involves construction quality assurance (CQA), material testing, and site inspection work at solid waste landfill sites. Ideal candidates will have mechanical aptitude, enjoy hands-on work outdoors, and be open to frequent travel with all expenses covered. U.S. Military Veterans, National Guardsmen, Reservists, and/or Military Spouses are encouraged to apply. Pay *****
$22 – $25/hour (Higher rates for landfill or CQA experience) Earning *****
Extensive Overtime Available (50+ hrs./week common in summer) Travel *****
Yes – with paid travel & lodging Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle. Company vehicle will not be provided. *****
Full-time with benefits; relocation and vehicle reimbursement/allowance available depending on project location.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities Monitor and document construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities Perform CQA/CQC testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and geosynthetic liners Conduct field inspections, soil compaction tests, and geosynthetics evaluations Operate and maintain testing equipment and ensure clean, organized workspaces Accurately report findings through digital and written reports submitted daily Work closely with project managers, contractors, and client representatives on project requirements Follow pre-task safety planning and report safety concerns immediately Assist with equipment calibration, material sample transport, and lab coordination Train progressively into greater responsibilities, including site leadership
Requirements U.S. Veteran, Guardsman, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse strongly encouraged High School Diploma or GED
required Minimum 6 months of experience in CQA, field testing, or mechanically inclined work (military construction or maintenance experience accepted) Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in various weather conditions Comfortable with travel and staying in hotels for extended project periods Good communication, teamwork, and documentation skills Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
Preferred Experience Prior landfill site experience Construction materials testing (soils, geosynthetics, aggregates) MOS background in construction, structural or avionics mechanics Knowledge of ASTM or CQA standards
