Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Our client, a leader in advanced aerospace technologies, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their Communications, Navigation & Surveillance (CN&S) team. This group develops state-of-the-art avionics solutions that strengthen flight safety, connectivity, and operational efficiency across both commercial aviation and emerging markets such as unmanned systems and urban air mobility.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to contribute to pioneering projects that directly impact aviation safety worldwide. The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Terrain Awareness & Alerting Systems — software that warns flight crews of terrain and obstacles in real time to reduce controlled-flight-into-terrain (CFIT) risk.
  • Runway Safety Systems — applications that assess landing dynamics and provide alerts to help prevent runway overruns.
  • Flight Management Connectivity — datalink solutions that enhance communication between aircraft and ground operations, improving efficiency and situational awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for avionics systems.
  • Break down system requirements into software specifications and implementations.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and verification engineers to ensure successful integration.
  • Work with advanced algorithms, real-time systems, and safety-critical applications.
  • Maintain and qualify development tools in support of certification requirements.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies to drive innovation in aerospace software.

Candidate Profile

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Proficiency in C and at least one scripting language such as Python.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).

Desirable

  • Background in aerospace, safety-critical, or high-reliability software.
  • Familiarity with standards such as RTCA and ARINC.
  • Knowledge of Git/Bitbucket, and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
  • Understanding of the software lifecycle and certification processes.
  • Experience with algorithms or data analytics.

Benefits

Our client offers:

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental health coverage.
  • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions.
  • Paid vacation, parental leave, and paid holidays.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.

Eligibility

Due to export control regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or hold protected status (asylum or refugee), or be able to obtain required authorizations.
