Position

Position Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Reports To: General Manager

Pay Rate: $31.71 per hour

Position Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator provides administrative and operational support in all areas of human resources including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. This role assists in coordinating HR processes for both union and non-union employees, ensuring compliance with labor agreements, organizational policies, and applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
    • Post job openings, schedule interviews, and facilitate pre-employment screening.
    • Prepare new hire paperwork and assist with orientation and onboarding.
  • Employee Records & HR Systems
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, both paper and electronic.
    • Ensure employee changes (status, benefits, compensation) are updated in payroll systems.
  • Employee Relations & Support
    • Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions (policies, benefits, procedures).
    • Support HR leadership with employee relations matters, including note-taking in meetings.
    • Assist in the administration of union-related processes, such as tracking grievances, maintaining seniority lists, and providing documentation for negotiations.
  • Compliance & Labor Relations
    • Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements and company handbook.
    • Help prepare reports and documentation required for audits or union requests.
  • Benefits & Payroll Support
    • Assist employees with benefit enrollment and changes.
    • Support payroll by tracking time, attendance, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • General HR Support
    • Coordinate employee trainings, safety programs, and compliance initiatives.
    • Assist with HR communications, such as policy updates and employee announcements.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 or more years of HR experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic HR functions and labor law compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and payroll systems.

Work Environment

  • Office setting with regular interaction with employees, supervisors, and union representatives.
  • May occasionally attend meetings outside of normal business hours (e.g., grievance meetings, negotiations support).
