We are seeking a motivated
estimating intern
looking to grow with the RJM team and enhance our team culture. As our estimating intern, you will assist the preconstruction team to develop accurate and competitive estimates that not only secure the work but are also profitable. Engage with the preconstruction team to foster professional relationships with clients and subcontractors.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the expected project scope.
Utilize bid solicitation software for subcontractor bid coverage and lead subcontractor follow up through various touch points. (phone, email, etc.)
Attend and support estimate kickoff meetings with preconstruction and project management teams.
Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents.
Obtain accurate information from databases, contractors, suppliers, etc. to utilize in estimates.
Review and finalize estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and specific project logistics.
Prepare estimate worksheets (posting sheets, basis of estimate, etc) to compile accurate and comprehensive estimates for review with internal preconstruction team.
Correspond professionally with architects and engineers for clear understanding of project scope during preparation of estimate.
Prepare cost reconciliation between two or more estimates to understand variance cost drivers.
Maintains awareness of new and emerging industry practices and the potential application on client engagements.
Assist with estimate closeout tasks.
