Senior Project Manager – Ground-Up & Interior Construction

📍 Midtown Manhattan, NYC

💰 Salary: DOE

About the Role

A leading General Contractor in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead high-profile ground-up and interior construction projects. This role is perfect for a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives managing complex construction operations, from foundation and superstructure to high-end interior fit-outs.

You will be the key driver of project success, responsible for schedules, budgets, quality, and stakeholder relationships — ensuring projects exceed expectations while mentoring and leading project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all project staff, including Superintendents, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Oversee both ground-up developments and interior build-outs, ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, and quality goals.
  • Manage project documentation: contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and close-out packages.
  • Conduct regular meetings with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to track progress and proactively resolve issues.
  • Review and approve subcontractor/vendor invoices, negotiate changes, and support timely client billing.
  • Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams on budgeting, bidding, and value engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, safety regulations, and Local Laws.
  • Drive execution from demolition through project completion for both structural and complex interior projects.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial general contractor project management experience, including ground-up and interior projects (core & shell, base building, high-end interiors).
  • Experience with corporate, commercial, institutional, or educational projects is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale structural projects and fast-paced interior renovations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing site Superintendents and project teams.
  • Proficiency with project management software (Procore, MS Project, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • NYC Local Law 196 SST Supervisor Card (62 Hours) required.

Why Join

  • Lead high-profile, landmark projects in the heart of Manhattan.
  • Work in a collaborative, client-focused environment with a strong project pipeline.
  • Competitive salary (DOE) and comprehensive benefits.
  • Opportunity to mentor teams, influence project strategy, and grow your leadership career in construction management.
