Central Valley Indian Health is seeking an experienced, patient-focused Medical Receptionist. This position performs front desk clerical services, including: collects data related to patient services, manages a high volume of phone calls, schedules/ cancels patient appointments, and verifies insurances. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent service to our patients and staff, along with maintaining HIPAA Compliance.

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent service to our patients and staff, along with maintaining HIPAA Compliance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a positive image of CVIH by greeting clients in a professional manner and see to their comfort and sense of well-being during their clinic visit. Inform patients of any changes that could delay their appointment/visit.
- Register patients, obtain all baseline data necessary for the patient visit and follow-up appointment. Update the medical record with insurance information, updated copy of insurance, eligibility, HIPAA notice, Health History, and annual consent. Update personal information in electronic medical record, including address, phone number, pharmacy etc.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, share of cost and sliding fee payments, records and balances daily cash receipts and properly routes to the Fiscal Department.
- Notify patient by mailing letters about their missed appointments and need to reschedule.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
- Responsible for verifying eligibility for PRC, Direct Care, Insurances, Medi-Cal before patient can be seen. Copies of any changes in methods of payments must be changed in the electronic medical record. Insurance card is to be scanned into the electronic medical record.
- Responsible for updating patient's demographics, insurance and community in RPMS.
- Check out patients by printing a visit summary and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide customer service/ support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
- Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her supervisor or CVIH Administration.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months experience in a medical office. Medical Administration or other relevant certificate preferred.
- Proficiency in typing, filing, medical terminology, and word processing.
- Knowledge of health insurance plans with the ability to navigate web portals.
- Requires and awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs a socioeconomic needs; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
- "Safety Sensitive" positions are subject to random drug testing and are required as a condition of continued employment.
