Job summary:
The newly created position of Manager of Human Resources will play a critical role on the SRS leadership team and will provide vision and hands on support to all aspects of the human resources function.
Key responsibilities include:
● Develop and oversee proactive staffing/recruiting strategies to ensure optimal staffing needs are met to support the business and to ensure the business continues to attract, engage and retain employees to support changing business needs.
● Ensure effective employee programs are in place to optimize business performance.
● Ensure effective management of all employee data, time and attendance reporting and payroll.
● Develop and manage the delivery of competitive rewards programs that support the business strategy, including compensation, health and welfare benefits
● Oversee employee relations issues to ensure that appropriate human resources input is provided to support business needs. Establish human resources policies that support fair, legal and effective employment practices.
● Stays abreast of leading and emerging human resources practices, trends, legal decisions and statutory changes. Ensure compliance with local, state of Michigan and federal labor and employment laws.
● Updates the Employee Handbook as necessary and ensures human resources policies, processes and practices are up to date, relevant, communicated and working well.
● Works with leadership to effectively manage employee related matters.
● Prepares special or routine Human Resources reports and metrics to the Leadership Team as needed.
● Establishes goals and tracks goal attainment for the Human Resources function.
● Participates in or at times may take the lead on state or county compliance audits related to employee training, certifications or other employment records.
QUALIFICATIONS of the ideal candidate
EDUCATION
● Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, organizational behavior, business administration or a related area. Masters degree preferred.
● PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
● Minimum of five (5) years of human resources experience.
● Minimum of two years of supervisory/management of human resources professionals.
● Experience in a direct care industry or human services setting or in a highly regulated or compliance oriented industry is preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
● Experience providing rich hands-on experience in human resources management and has deep understanding of most core HR functions including labor laws and regulations.
● Experience developing or monitoring salary structure and compensation adjustments according to market data and trends and internal equity.
● Experience administering Time and Attendance systems as well as payroll oversight
● Ability to be resourceful and hands on as needed in a small company setting.
● Experience with open enrollment and benefits selection and administration.
● Is skilled in project management related to Human Resources project and program implementation.
● Ability to work with and influence positive relationships among all employee groups
● Has the desire and ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-past environment.
● Has the passion and ability to promote an organizational culture of safety, compassion, and service that protects the well- being of residents.
● Proficient in Microsoft office products.
