Position Summary
The Logistics Import Manager will oversee inbound international logistics operations, with a focus on imports from Asia. This role includes container shipment coordination, compliance with U.S. Customs, and collaboration with freight forwarders, customs brokers, internal departments, and warehouse teams. The position also supports export logistics to Central America and the Caribbean.
Key Responsibilities
Import Management
Manage all international import operations from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and India Coordinate high-volume container shipments, including LCL and FCL strategies Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations Prepare and submit accurate documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, ISF filings, HTS classifications, and Certificates of Origin Maintain strong working relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and ocean carriers Monitor all inbound shipment schedules and proactively resolve any delays or clearance issues
Internal Coordination
Work with inventory control, purchasing, and warehouse teams to align shipments with business operations Track landed costs, duties, and freight expenses Conduct freight bill audits and maintain clean records for import compliance
Process Optimization
Recommend improvements to enhance import cycle efficiency and reduce costs Track and report KPIs related to freight performance, clearance timelines, cost per shipment, and vendor performance Stay current on international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and tariff changes
Export Support
Assist export teams with outbound shipments to Latin America and the Caribbean as needed Support documentation, container scheduling, and customs processes related to export coordination
Candidate Requirements
3 to 7+ years of experience in international import logistics, freight coordination, or supply chain operations Direct experience importing goods from China and other parts of Asia Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS codes, ISF filings, and container logistics Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and overseas suppliers Proficiency with logistics software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills Experience in mechanical or industrial parts environments is a plus
