Shift: Days (8 Hours)

Pay Range: $22.89/hr. - $33.18/hr.

Position Summary

Assist and support the licensed clinical care team by providing phlebotomy services in an ambulatory care setting. Responsible for specimen collection and handling, following the five (5) Simply Better steps with every patient and team interaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Possess the necessary qualifications, education, and licensure for all responsibilities.
  • Excel in communication, customer service, and teamwork.
  • Prioritize, organize, multitask, and demonstrate attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ensure laboratory adherence to quality and safety protocols, escalating issues as needed.
  • Be punctual and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Interact positively and constructively.
  • Perform venipunctures and capillary collections on diverse patient populations based on provider orders and lab guidelines.
  • Follow laboratory standard work and seek continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Adhere to licensure-based scope of practice.
  • Confirm patient identity with two identifiers before specimen collection, label specimens immediately in front of the patient.
  • Maintain QC data/logs per regulations and department guidelines.
  • Promptly forward requested data to supervisor and complete daily logs.
  • Obtain provider approval for non-standard tests.
  • Follow up on tests, notify physicians of critical values, and contact patients for re-draws as needed.
  • Disinfect laboratory areas daily and maintain 5S standards.
  • Provide coverage as a Medical Assistant if applicable.
  • Report issues to Supervisor or Lab Coordinator.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within scope.

Placement in the pay range depends on experience and qualifications, with additional incentives possible.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) required.
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required.
  • Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of phlebotomy experience required.
  • One (1) year of pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.
