Actalent Hiring Team of Phlebotomists

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explain the venipuncture blood drawing process and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand all physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
  • Ensure samples are placed in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately labeled.
  • Follow protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (if required)
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy
Work Environment

This position is 100% onsite in a high-volume laboratory, working from 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. The role involves working individually with patients as well as being part of a team. There is an opportunity for this position to become permanent.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
