The Emergency Veterinarian (Overnight) will deliver high-quality veterinary care and an exceptional client experience. S/he advocates for pets and their quality of life, builds long-term bonds with clients, contributes to the human-pet bond, educates clients and staff on pet health, mentors the veterinary team, and enhances both medical quality and business performance of the hospital. Responsibilities include: Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team. Provide professional, ethical veterinary care ensuring an exceptional experience for pets and clients. Establish trust through effective communication, preventive care, diagnostic workups, treatment planning, and follow-up. Advocate for wellness plans and preventive care. Gather comprehensive clinical information to make informed decisions. Lead the veterinary team, delegate tasks, and improve hospital efficiency. Practice in compliance with relevant veterinary standards and document medical records appropriately. Address and resolve client concerns related to pet care. Collaborate harmoniously with team members, leadership, and the broader veterinary community. Develop strong, lasting client relationships. Partner with leadership to design a career development plan including medical, surgical, communication, and leadership skills. Aim to meet performance metrics set by leadership. Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all actions. Practice evidence-based medicine and preventive care, using sound judgment when guidelines are unavailable. Perform basic surgeries with proper anesthesia, monitoring, and pain management. Educate clients and staff to improve their veterinary knowledge. Charge appropriately for services and products. Enhance medical quality, clinic efficiency, and profitability. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent required. Valid veterinary license or eligibility for licensure. Minimum five years of relevant emergency veterinary experience. Self-motivated, capable of working under tight deadlines. Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency. Ability to multitask and handle ad-hoc requests effectively. Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
